Lincolnshire County Football Association – County Sunday Cup Final

Today  Rustons saw the eagerly awaited Sunday County Cup Final played at Sincil Bank between the teams sitting in the top two positions of the Premier Division table.

Anglers FC and Rustons United carried the flag for the Sunday League and both are to be congratulated on reaching the final, something that has not been achieved by two Lincoln sides for many years.

In a keenly contested game it was Anglers who shaded the first half courtesy of two fine strikes. Rustons had their chances and a combination of two excellent saves by the Anglers keeper, who was also aided on one occasion by the crossbar, kept the Rustons strike force at bay.

Each team netted a goal apiece after the break allowing the team from Saxilby to lift the coveted trophy on this, their first Season back in the League.

Congratulations to all involved for producing an entertaining game on the day.
