It is with the greatest sadness that I announce the passing of Mr John (Johnny) Allen of FVA Jerusalem. He passed away peacefully in the small hours of Monday 4th July.
John has been with FVA Jerusalem in one capacity or another for 55 years and has been Secretary of the Club since 1983, a remarkable 40 years. Knowing John as I did I would bet that he could produce the team sheet for every game during that time!
It is difficult to know where to start by posting a tribute to a fantastic person and friend of the League. With 55 years at one Club how can that dedication and service be remembered? Perhaps the best way of trying to make sense of that is to say “Johny Allen, a great man, great Secretary and all round true Gentleman. Mr Jerusalem for sure and a truly great ambassador for our League. He did absolutely everything for his club from being a player, Manager, Committee member, and Secretary. Was there anything he didn’t do..? There was actually- he didn’t text his results to the League Secretary but he was always the first result in…by phone!
The League Management Committee of the Lincoln & District Sunday Football League sends its heartfelt condolences to John’s family and friends at this saddest if times, and of course to all at FVA Jerusalem who have lost one of, if not the best.

On behalf of the League I thank John for his amazing commitment and dedication to our League and to local Sunday football over his 55 years of involvement and more than that I thank him for being an inspiration to all who knew him. It was a pleasure and an honour. He will be truly missed by all who were lucky enough to know him.
