Death of Mr Norman Saywell – Life President of the League

It is with the utmost regret that I have to pass on the sad news that the Life President of our League, Mr Norman Saywell, passed away last Friday, 7th February.

Norman had been involved in football for over 60 years. He was a former Linesman on the Football League and served the County of Lincolnshire in a number of roles including County FA President and County FA Chairman as well as becoming the President and then latterly the Life President of our League.

Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time and as soon as I hear details about his funeral I will update the site for the benefit of those that will wish to attend.

As a mark of respect for the marvelous work that was done for football in the County of Lincolnshire and for our League by Norman over such a prolonged period of time all Lincoln & District Sunday Football League games played on Sunday 16th February will be preceded by a minutes silence.

  1. Very sad news indeed, a great servant and ambassador for Lincolnshire football and specifically the Sunday league. I think we should hold a minutes silence before all this weekends games, can this be done?

    • James, the League has already instructed that a minute’s silence will be observed prior to all matches played this Sunday.
