25th March – Results Round-Up

My normal weekly round-up (snow and ice allowing!) will be posted within the next 24 hours as I am still frantically working on getting all the postponed games rearranged. However early mention and congratulations must go to Rustons United after they defeated Scunthorpe based Broughton Working Mens Club in the Semi Final of the Lincolnshire County Football Association County Sunday Cup today. The 2-1 scoreline ensures that this year there will be a Lincoln Sunday League team’s name on the trophy as the final will be contested between Anglers FC and Rustons United. The League can be proud of both teams for reaching the final of this competition and a very well done and congratulations is extended to all at both Clubs.

The Semi Finals of the Kelly Read Cup were also played today and the Final will be contested between Anglers FC and and Welton Sports AFC.

Today, Anglers hit 9 goals without reply when they entertained Railway Inn AFC at Saxilby whilst Welton Sports AFC claimed a major scalp when they defeated Premier Division side Newton United 5-2 at Ryland Road.

A date for the final at Sincil Bank will be announced as soon as Lincoln City Football Club are able to confirm pitch availability which currently is unknown due to the Club’s potential Play Off potential.
