22nd January – Results round-up

The overnight frost had an influence by reducing the amount of scheduled games able to be played today but thankfully the Jock Mitchell Memorial Trophy games were all able to be completed.

Jock Mitchell Memorial Trophy – Quarter Finals

Wragby FC hit 6 with a 6-2 win at home to North Lindum Hawks, and AFC Golden Eagle won 3-1 at Ingleby Arms (Marton) FC.  Cherry Willingham scored 4 without reply at Fox & Hounds FC and the remaining game saw a narrow win for Hykeham Athletic away at Lincoln RNA by 3-2.

The draw for the Semi Finals will be made at the next League Management Committee meeting on Monday 6th February 2017.

Premier Division

There were just 2 games played today in this division. Overnight leaders New Swan FC already found themselves doing something else today as their game at Lincoln Moorlands was called off midweek due to the state of the Moorlands pitch that failed to come through its test of having 3 games played on it over two days last weekend with the amount of rain that had fallen on it prior to those games. The frost put paid to the games involving Ivy Tavern and Metheringham today, as well as Scothern United v Rustons United.

Thankfully there was some football played in this division and this saw Ruston Sports FC climb up to third place courtesy of a 6-1 victory away at bottom of the table Welton Sports AFC. The other game in this division saw third from bottom Travellers Rest pull further away from second from bottom Newton United after a 2-1 win out at South Clifton.

Division One

Thankfully all 5 games were completed in this division today. Leaders Gatehouse FC lost their 100% League record going down to a 1-2 defeat away at AFC Lincoln Green. Second placed Saxilby Athletic rattled 9 goals past Horncastle Town without replay and Lincoln Imp FC moved up 3 places to sit in third position courtesy of a 5-2 victory at Welton FC. Hykeham Memorial were held to a 1-1 draw at home to St Helens FC, a result which sees them drop a place to fourth position in the table. Mid-table Trent Valley FC had a useful 4-1 win away at AFC Plough at the Cowpaddle.

Division Two

Leaders Railway Inn AFC kept up the pace at the head of the division with a resounding 7-1 win today at Crows Athletic but their closest rivals Bassingham Bugle Horn FC kept with them thanks to a 3-0 home win over Newton United Reserves. FVA Jerusalem remain fourth after an 8-0 home win against Woodhall Spa United. The games between Plough Sturton v Lincoln High Street FC, and Red Lion Dunston v Waddington United both fell victim to the overnight frost.

Division Three

There was just one game scheduled to be played in this division today between HBW United and Turks Head but unfortunately it fell victim to the weather.

Division Four

Leaders Coningsby FC’s home game against The Shed FC was another casualty to the weather and the two teams immediately below them in the table, namely Broadley FC and AFC Golden Eagle, were both without League fixtures today. Birchwood United moved up a place in the table after their 1-1 draw at home to Saxilby Sports AFC and FVA Jerusalem Reserves improved their points total, and their goal difference with a 9-2 win away at bottom club The Blue Lion FC.
